The House offers the successful candidate accommodation during his\/her academic stay in Paris for up to 10 months (value of $10,000 CAD).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduate students applying for housing at the MEC for the 2023-2024 academic year may apply for the scholarship if they have a good academic record.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you wish to apply for admission to the MEC independently of your application to the scholarship<\/strong>, complete your application for housing first and include your CIUP file number in your cover letter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you are not applying for admission to the MEC because your stay in Paris depends on obtaining the scholarship<\/strong>, make sure that you meet the admission criteria for an academic stay at the MEC in the event your application is selected in the 2023-2024 competition. Jad Orph\u00e9e is a composer both for film and for the stage. Following a Bachelor\u2019s degree in music at Concordia University, he obtained a Master\u2019s in social sciences at&nbsp; EHESS. Macdonald and the Stewart Family, initiated in the 1860s by Sir William C. Macdonald, who made his fortune through the sale of tobacco. The Foundation is a Canadian non-profit organization established in 1973 by Montreal philanthropists David and Liliane Stewart following the sale of Macdonald Tobacco Inc. The Foundation is attentive to the various needs of the community, working independently or in cooperation with public and private organizations in the areas of education, medicine, culture and especially Canadian heritage where it has provided major financial assistance to many projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The David and Liliane Stewart Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Macdonald Stewart Foundation offers the successful candidate accommodation during his\/her academic stay in Paris for up to 10 months&nbsp;<strong>(value of 6,100 euros, almost $10,000 CAD).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduate students applying for housing at the MEC for the 2023-2024 academic year may also apply for the scholarship if they have a good academic record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>If you wish to apply for admission to the MEC independently of your application to the scholarship<\/em><\/strong>, complete your&nbsp;application&nbsp;for housing first and include your CIUP file number in your cover letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>If you are not applying for admission to the MEC because your stay in Paris is dependent on obtaining the scholarship<\/em><\/strong>, please make sure that you are eligible for admission nonetheless as you must satisfy those requirements if you are the successful recipient of the 2023-2024 scholarship. Admission requirements are described on the&nbsp;MEC website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SCHOLARSHIP&nbsp;ELIGIBILITY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Be a Canadian citizen (permanent residence does not make you eligible).<\/li><li>Be enrolled in a postgraduate program in the Ile-de-France region for the 2023-2024&nbsp;academic year OR demonstrate by letter of support from the student\u2019s&nbsp;thesis director in Canada that a research stay in Paris is essential for completing&nbsp;the student\u2019s postgraduate degree.<\/li><li>Have a good academic record since the undergraduate level.<\/li><li>Demonstrate a desire to be actively involved in the MEC life (via the Committeeof the residents, etc.) and become one of its ambassadors.<\/li><li>Not having received a grant of excellence from the federal and \/ or provincialgovernments of Canada.<\/li><li>Not having received another MEC scholarship for the same academic year (thescholarships are not cumulative).<br><br><strong>APPLICATION PROCEDURES<\/strong><br>The applicant must submit the following documents via&nbsp;<strong>email by email by August, 28th2023 at the latest&nbsp;<\/strong>@&nbsp;info@etudiantscanadiens.org:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>an official transcript of the most recent diploma and, if applicable, of every year completed in the current program of study;<\/li><li>a motivation letter (2 pages maximum) explaining :<ul><li>1) the study project in France<\/li><li>2) concrete actions envisaged to get involved in the life of the House and tobecome an ambassador<\/li><li>Your budget<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>the names and e-mail addresses of two referees who will send a letter of recommendation before August 28th, 2023 via email<br>@&nbsp;info@etudiantscanadiens.org&nbsp;(write in the subject heading \u201cBourse&nbsp;David et Lilian Stewart&nbsp;\u2013 applicant\u2019s name\u201d).<\/li><li><strong>Late or incomplete applications will not be considered for the scholarship.<\/strong><br><br><strong>EVALUATION&nbsp;CRITERIA<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Study project<\/li><li>Pertinence of an academic stay in Paris<\/li><li>Interest shown for MEC community life<\/li><li>Academic excellence<\/li><li>Financial resources<strong>JURY&nbsp;<\/strong>MEMBERS<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>A representant of the Paris Academy or the Embassy of Canada in Paris<\/li><li>A member of the Administration Committee of the MEC<\/li><li>The director of the House of Canadian Students<strong>The jury will meet end of August 2023. Applicants will be notified of the results afterwards.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" id=\"scholarship-family\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-arimo-40-regular-font-size\">Student involvement scholarship<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The student involvement scholarship is granted to 4 residents of the MEC who contribute greatly to the experience of living together at the MEC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MEC offers chosen candidates a scholarship equivalent to one month\u2019s rent for a standard room, during their stay from September to June. The winners also receive an official certificate from the Canadian Ambassador to France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-inter-22-regular-font-size\">Requirements<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"list-left-60\"><li>You are a resident at the MEC for the current academic year.<\/li><li>You are enrolled in an institution of higher learning in Ile-de-France OR you demonstrate with a letter from your academic director in Canada that a research period in Paris is necessary to obtain your master\u2019s or doctoral degree.<\/li><li>You haven\u2019t received the graduate studies scholarship from the MEC.<\/li><li>You are not a short stay resident.<\/li><li>You cannot be part of the residents\u2019 committee.<\/li><li>Be available for the training of <em>PAIRS aidants<\/em> on <strong>Tuesday, October 24th from 7pm to 9pm.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" developing your leadership skills.<\/li><li>You work well in a team.<\/li><li>You are articulate, confident and open-minded.<\/li><li>You are discreet and professional.<\/li><li>You demonstrate the desire to contribute actively to life at the MEC.<\/li><li>Attention will be paid to equal representation of men and women when possible.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" intervention training.<\/li><li>Approach residents who need help or a sympathetic ear and refer them.<\/li><li>Organize three activities per term (from September to January, and February to June for residents of \u2018your family\u2019 (breakdown by areas of the House).<\/li><li>Participate in and assist in organizing a group activity with the Director of the MEC.<\/li><li>Participate in making living together better.<\/li><li>Help with evacuation of MEC residents if there is a fire alarm.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\"
