Originally from Quebec City, Charlotte Larouche is one of our MEC ambassadors and scholarship holders. With her dazzling smile, she shares her academic journey with us, with stars in her eyes.
Charlotte enthusiastically recounts how she studied history and civilization at Cégep de Sainte-Foy. For her, history is like listening to fairy tales; she loves to let herself be transported by the stories. Although passionate about history, the young woman reveals that fashion and the arts have always intrigued her. That’s why she took the courageous step of moving to Montreal to study fashion design at UQAM. However, the metropolis didn’t live up to her expectations, and she returned to Quebec City to pursue her studies in history at Université Laval.
It was during the pandemic that Charlotte rediscovered her true passion: art. She explains that it wasn’t just the pandemic that influenced her, but also her work as a daycare educator, which led her to visual art. Charlotte uses the term “electroshock” to describe what it felt like to teach children visual art. Driven by a thirst for learning, she went on to earn a certificate in visual arts and a bachelor’s degree in visual and media arts, both from Université Laval.
The Sorbonne bursary is the reason why the MEC is delighted to count Charlotte among its residents. Thanks to this scholarship, Charlotte will be able to pursue a Master’s degree in visual arts, where she will perfect her methodological and theoretical skills, while continuing to create. Passionate about DIY, sewing, jewelry-making, drawing, modeling and all kinds of creative ideas, Charlotte sees inspiration all around her.
When she mentions that her strongest personality trait is laughter, it comes as no surprise. Charlotte never misses an opportunity to meet people who make her laugh out loud. Her goal? One laugh a day. That’s why she loves humor and absurd puns.
A keen urban cyclist, Paris has seduced Charlotte with its many bicycle paths. In fact, her bicycle helmet was an essential item in her suitcase. If you’re a cycling enthusiast, she’ll be delighted to discuss it with you!
And who knows? Maybe one day, Charlotte’s work will be displayed on the walls of the MEC!
