Living in the Cité

The Cité Universitaire of Paris is a unique site in the world dedicated to welcoming and facilitating the encounters of students, researchers, artists and elite athletes representing over 140 nationalities. The campus, the most important on Île-de-France, is intended to promote peace by bringing together in one place young talent from around the world.

The library of the Cité is located in the International House. Admission is free on presentation of the resident of the Cité card. To get your annual pass, you must provide proof of identity, 2 photos and study proof (student, teacher or researcher card).

The library is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. (summer, from Monday to Friday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

Cultural life

Each year, more than 1000 cultural events take place at the Cité Internationale. They are organized by Houses, residents and specialist services.

In addition to its theater, the Cité hosts between its walls an orchestra, a choir and a center dedicated to the enhancement of its architectural heritage. It also offers services for amateurs’ pursuits or for documentary research.

The Cité offers its residents a wide range of courses and sports activities at preferential rates (swimming, tennis, yoga, etc.) The Cité Internationale allows sport fans to satisfy their passion. For more information:


Resto CROUS (Maison internationale) is open from morning to night. You can also find a restaurant at the Collège d’Espagne, House of Corea and another at the Maison Heinrich Heine. At the Maison internationale there is available a Café as well. For opening times:
