Tracing Our History: Maxime and Bryan on a Mission in Canada

October 24 to November 8, 2025

People who have lived, worked, or crossed paths with the Maison des étudiants canadiens write its History through their presence, their participation, and their experiences. It is their testimonies and the memories they carry that shape the identity of our home—familial, empathetic, and creative. It was therefore essential to highlight them as we reach a significant milestone in our journey.

For 15 days this fall, two creative souls from the MEC team flew to Canada to collect fragments of our history. In preparation for our centennial celebrations, Maxime and Bryan have been creating unique works for several months, capturing the very essence of the MEC.

Bryan: The poetic filmmaker, tasked with producing three films on the pillars of the House: family (tears guaranteed), empathy (plus a few virtual hugs), and creativity (incidentally, his film on creativity was almost stolen by a squirrel in Ottawa).

Maxime: The creative storyteller, responsible for writing 100 stories inspired by former residents. Picture a blend of Balzac and Aunt Suzanne reminiscing about her youth over a cup of tea.

Bryan and Maxime returned more inspired than ever, with suitcases full of stories, memory cards full of footage, and a squirrel in their hearts. Their adventure proves one thing: art is lived, shared, and sometimes stolen by a mischievous rodent!
